We Are the Transformers

One hot afternoon when I was in the 5th standard I got the urge to have a glass of lemonade. It was summer time and summer vacations always call for experiments in the kitchen. With the air of a head chef of any five-star restaurant, I got all the ingredients ready. Unfortunately, I was too young to realize the size of the lemon was totally disproportionate to the size of the glass I wanted my lime juice in. I squeezed the entire fruit and when I sipped the lemonade I could see stars from the outer space. I squealed from the kitchen with tears dripping from my eyes. My mother had a smile when I narrated the failure of my experiment. She said all I had to do was add more water to the mixture and maybe I could serve a few more people with tasty lemonade. Undoubtedly it worked and my mom and I enjoyed the relishing lemonade.

This wasn’t very philosophical then. But today I did realize that it was so easy to turn the negative aspect to something positive. And the best part of it was, I could share my success with many more. This is what we ought to practise in the present days.

We are born in this world with complete positive vibes. We are like a beaker or a glass tumbler filled with crystal clear water. As we move in life we tend to collect dirt deposits, we get polluted with negative thoughts and all the factors of negation. We tend to lose in life. We compare with others and we develop an inferiority complex. The clear water starts blurring and is filled with all the insults, accusations, reproach, rebukes and so on. It becomes never ending. The water in the beaker or tumbler may evaporate. But all these negative vibes and negative factors do not leave the container. They get heavier and settle in the beaker thus adding to the weight of the beaker. We call this weight as depression. The heavier the beaker the deeper is the intensity of the depression. Some people let their life evaporate and all that remains is the depression.

The best solution to get rid of these sediments is to flush it off. Don’t flush it with one spoon of water or one tumbler of water. Flush it with liters and liters of positive thoughts. Let your container overflow; with all the negative thoughts pouring out and refill it with the similar crystal clear water. Positive thinking is essential in great measures. It is the only drug which is going to cure us from the various unseen diseases around us.

Can you actually charge a battery with just a positive charge or just a negative charge? If you need a proper functioning battery you ought to have the negative and the positive. It is foolishness on our part to expect just happiness in our lives. We cannot expect just positive things to happen around us. Life is not about laughing and enjoying amidst pleasant situations. Life is about bearing a smile on your face amidst the negative situations and work optimistically towards changing the negative to something positive. This makes life more meaningful, earnest and thrilling. Even the yin-yang concept shows the opposite forces as interconnected and counter balancing. The existence of the negativity is unavoidable. To turn it to positivity is fully feasible.

This requires a different approach towards problems. A small twist of our perspective can actually turn a negative cross to positive plus sign. It is totally in our hands. If you do not want a peaceful life keep gazing at the negative cross sign and lament all your life. But to have a better life just change your outlook. Change your perception. The cross will turn to a plus sign and everything will be hope ‘full’ than hope ‘less’.

When a person cracks a joke for the first time we enjoy it. When he goes on saying the same joke again and again in a repeat mode, we would only consider him insane. So when it’s impossible for us to laugh at the same joke why do we find it possible to cry for the same problem? We should stop lamenting and try to turn all the negative things around us to positive things.

Dear friends, 2020 has been a terrifying year for many. But there are a few people who have actually tried to concentrate on some of the good incidents that happened in 2020. The forest fire, the pandemic, chemical disasters like the Beirut explosion, death of celebrities and plane crash has been happening since centuries. Why do people keep counting the tragedies that are happening in 2020 alone? When the pages of history are turned we have had years which faced the World War, pandemics, floods, volcanoes, forest fires, assassination of great heroes etc. But many good incidents also took place in the same year which camouflaged the negativity of the year. Let us all hope with our fingers crossed that…

2020 has also taught us good things. It has taught us to stay together during tough times. It has taught us to be devoid of jealousy and vengeance. It has also taught us the power of Mother Nature who was badly exploited. Sometimes good things have to be taught in the tough way so that we remember them forever. The pandemic killed many innocent lives but it has taught the world the undeniable truth that Health is Wealth. A person may have dollars or pounds or bitcoins. But the one with the best health is the richest soul on earth. Family bonds have grown thicker; the world has sprung from various corners with helping hands. Scientists have proved their capability by coming up with various combinations for the antidote. Teachers have trained themselves with more technological skills and children have at last learnt to use their gadgets for a good cause. So there is nothing purely bad, we just have to flip the coin and see the brighter side too.

This means life is like a double edged sword. Let’s transform every negative side into an aura of positivity. Let’s choose the better side of life.
